Biological Active Filtration for Small to Medium-sized Treatment Plants

• elimination of COD

• nitrification

• denitrification

• elimination of suspended solids

Performance

The AQUABIOTEC biological active filtration system represents a highly efficient procedure and combines the process stages retention of suspended matters (filtration) and biological purification in only one reactor.

The reactor is charged with raw water at the bottom and the purified water leaves the reactor at the top (upflow – reactor).

The reactor is filled with carrier material which serves to filtrate and, simultaneously, to support the biologically active biomass. The reactor is aerated from the bottom. Biological degradation of the polluting substances (COD-elimination, nitrification, denitrification) takes place using settled micro-organisms which grow on the natural carrier material.

Advantages

• intensive biological process

• eliminates clarification phase

• high volume efficiency

• low discharge concentration

• low space requirements

• low investment costs
