The AQUABIOTEC packed-bed technology consists
of a reactor which is packed with a regular plastic medium
on which the microorganisms will settle. The specific surface
of the medium lies between 100 and 150 m²/m³. The
reactor is aerated from the bottom by means of fine bubble
aeration. The aeration ensures the supply of oxygen for bacterial
growth. At the same time, the input of air prevents clogging
in the reactor
